This Extreme Extruded Powder is a ballistically identical substitute for H4831. The grain size is smaller, making it easier to cut, hence the “SC” or “short cut” moniker. Powder measures benefit from the shorter, denser kernels because the powder flows more easily through them.

This reduces the need for frequent granule cutting. The improved loading density is a result of the more compact orientation of the individual grains and the smoother flow characteristics.

Ballistically, Extreme Extruded Powder is analogous to H4831. As a result, a smaller grain size is indicated by the SC, or short cut, physical designation. The shorter, denser kernels require less trimming during measurement. As a result of the enhanced flow properties, the load weights are distributed more evenly across each kernel, leading to a higher loading density overall.

The H4831 powder is probably the most effective powder for killing large game. Bruce Hodgdon pioneered this well-known burn rate back in 1950.
